Ahead of an art competition planned for the Global Week of Action, Caritas Somalia has run some creativity classes in the school holidays to get children going. Some were for long-term refugees living in neighbouring Djibouti like Mohammed Awais Ahmed, who fled Mogadishu when he was 11.
Mohammed’s picture story showed migrants trying to cross the sea. He’s upset that sometimes they get thrown overboard. “It’s very difficult to migrate, but to get peace and to leave war behind, people do what they would otherwise never do,” he says.
